As our small but fully packed Peugeot van approached the grounds of Eastnor Castle, we wondered whether the 24 hour mountain bike endurance event would still be going ahead.
The weather was bad (it had been bad the previous week too). Bad can quite easily be defined as constant rainfall.
But bad weather was not going to stop this event; Mountain Mayhem was quite proudly going to live up to its name and the event was all systems go!
After setting up the Cognation marquee we chatted with competitors, who were all eager for the next day start (we also watched an Aston Martin get pulled through the very muddy mud!).
By 11am the following day there was an atmospheric buzz around the main arena. Mayhem was to start in 60 minutes and the weather best online casino was an extra ingredient that would reinforce that word ‘endurance’.
Riding in a 24 hour event was a challenge but riding in these wet and unpredictable conditions was definitely going to heighten that challenge. But as all great athletes know, a heightened challenge creates a greater reward and a higher level of personal satisfaction.
Located not far from the Start/Finish line we experienced Sumo wrestlers, a man in a suit and a rider on a kid’s bike. We also saw some very muddy but determined faces and more significantly some big smiles.
Cognation salutes those of you who faced the elements and took part in the event. This includes all members of our team who rode wearing the newly designed Cognation cycle top.
Look out for our Mountain Mayhem video…..we’ll have it online by the end of the week!
